Help! Slow leak in softub!

My poor old softub has sprung a leak. When I fill it, over the course of a few days it empties down to the same spot just below one of the jets, about a quarter of the way down. It was working fine until I emptied it and changed the water and filter about a month ago. It was a bit cold out, so I'm wondering if I may have cracked something while it was empty. Does anyone have any suggestions? I live in New York City, so it's going to be very difficult and probably expensive to get it repaired. (I would probably have to get someone to come in from outside of the city.) It was secondhand to begin with, although in great condition (barely used) and I am an artist with practically no money. I will be so bummed out if I can't get this fixed! Help! Help!

Hi Elle. I'm not in NY, but I can probably help you fix it yourself by talking you through it. I'm sure there are others here who would chime in and offer tips/advice also.

Thank you so much! I guess the first thing is figuring out where the problem is. Do you have any advice about identifying where the leak is? It seemed like it was okay the last time I filled it until I turned on the jets, (although I'd have to do it again and leave it without the jets on for a few days to make sure that is absolutely true I guess.) But assuming it is, would that indicate the problem is with whatever connects the powerpack to the tub? I have to admit that when it was empty I shifted it slightly while it was still connected (stupidly!) and I had a feeling I might have done something to it. Also - the water goes down to just below the top jets, which is also about the level of the top connector on the powerpack. I'm wondering if I cracked it. I did separate the tub and powerpack before I put water in the last time to make sure it was connected properly, and I noticed one of the rubber rings wasn't in right - I had hoped that was causing the problem. But apparently not!

Any tricks or advice you have about identifying the problem or eliminating the possibility of it being other things would be really, really appreciated!

You should be able to find the lead by applying a soapy solution to all fittings in the general area where you think the leak might be coming from. If you find a spot where there are alot of bubbles, that's your leak.

Apply the solution gently so you don't create bubbles. That may make you think there's a leak where there isn't one.

IHelp!!!! have almost exactly the same problem. I seem to have isolated the source of the leak to the big filter near the base of the tub which I notice no longer screws securely onto the flange. It's as if the thread is stripped. There also seems to be a white smudge at the base of this filter where it's rubbed against the liner - but there's no leak with a couple of inches of water in the tub, so this probably isn't causing a problem. The leak happens without the power pak turned on, so I think it must be at the filter itself. Any ideas about what to do? My dealer is now out of business and the nearest alternative is in a neighboring town. He says "pack up the tub and send it to us so we can look at it." (Oh, sure!)

Am I right in assuming that if the power pak / pump isn't operating, then the leak must be from somewhere inside the tub itself?

I just removed the filter from its flange and that reveals a little white internal part that juts out. I'll wait and see if the water in the tub goes below this point.

Also, I notice that the hot tub light is also located at about the same level as the filter. Could the leak be there, I wonder?

I checked the liner again and still see no problem anywhere.

I wish softub would publish their specs somewhere!!!

If anybody has any suggestions please post asap.
